Rehabilitation program for patients with spinal cord and brain injuries.

Rehabilitation program for patients with spinal cord and brain injuries.

I am pleased to introduce Praxis Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Center and its services to
you. Located in the city of Baku, Azerbajan. The Center is well known to eastern Europeans for
its excellent outcomes on the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord and brain injury, stroke,
and cerebral palsy. The center has specialized clinicians, such as neurologists, psychologists and
physical therapists on staff to provide individually designed components of the rehabilitation
program to each patient.
Depending on the needs of patients, the therapeutic protocols utilize simultaneous multichannel
functional electrical stimulation combined with specific and intensive exercises that involve both
the ascending and descending pathways. In collaboration with major European medical centers,
we have been a pioneer in the stem cells transplantation for patients with spinal cord injury.
Our clinical findings suggest that both afferent and efferent flow of nerve impulses are initiated
simultaneously between the motor cortex and the peripheral neuromuscular junctions. Optimal
clinical success is achievable, using the rehabilitation program, including sophisticated
mechanical and electronic devices, and the patient’s maximal voluntary efforts to use the
involved limbs.
Based on statistical analysis of the data from the treatment of 370 cases with spinal cord injury
over the past 27 years, we are now able to predict the patient’s expected clinical outcomes after
three, six and nine months with 90% accuracy. Obviously, the clinical outcomes depend largely
on the level of spinal cord injury, the physical condition of the patient and his willingness to
carry out the assigned therapeutic activities. Overall, 90% of the referrals with chronic spinal
cord injuries at thoracic and lumbar levels begin to walk independently with assistive devices
within 3to 6 months after admission to the Center. Further, stroke patients regain significant
limb function and postural balance within 45to 60 days. Typically, the rehabilitation program is
implemented seven hours a day five times a week for 3 months, and the patient’s progress is
evaluated on a monthly basis and reported to the referring clinician. Further information on the
rehabilitation programs are also available on the Center’s website, as shown above.

Upon admission to the rehabilitation program and becoming acquainted with the estimated
results, the patient and a relative will stay at an apartment of the Center and the patient will be
scheduled for daily treatment. For further information and appointment, please contact the
